CAMS Air Quality automates the retrieval and scientific processing workflow while keeping the source, transformation steps and quality checks explicit.
The platform does not hide the scientific method behind a single download button. Each stage corresponds to a defined processing step.

The worker prepares the required surface and model-level requests against the Copernicus Atmosphere Data Store.
The four surrounding 0.75° grid points are used for bilinear interpolation to the requested latitude and longitude.
Surface particulate diagnostics are converted to µg/m³; supported gaseous species use model-level-60 meteorology to estimate air density before conversion.
The workflow checks expected timestamps, missing and duplicate records, interpolation fallback, NaN, negative and exact-zero values.
Validated results are assembled into data files, statistics, analytics, request traceability and editable Word reporting.
The requested coordinates are located within the surrounding CAMS grid cell. Concentrations at the four bounding grid points are combined using bilinear interpolation, rather than simply returning the nearest model grid point.
For supported gaseous pollutants, model-level-60 temperature and specific humidity are combined with surface pressure to estimate air density before converting mass-mixing-ratio fields to µg/m³.
PM₁₀, PM₂.₅ and PM₁ surface diagnostics are handled as mass concentrations and converted to µg/m³ for the final processed time series.
Request metadata, source-grid context, selected pollutants, period and processing outputs remain tied to the run so users can review how a dataset was produced.
3-hourly processed values plus daily and monthly summaries.
Mean, extrema, percentiles, variability and pollutant-specific summaries.
Temporal trends, distributions, diurnal profiles and climatological views.
Company/project branding, tables, figures and editable DOCX output.
It is useful for historical atmospheric context and regional background assessment. It is not on-site monitoring and does not replace direct regulatory measurements where those are required.
